3D Animal Portraits
Materials:
- 2 litre plastic milk carton
- newspaper
- PVA glue
- gesso
- Thick piece of cardboard approx 18cm x 18cm
- Acrylic paint
- Posca pens
- Polystyrene balls
Technique:
Cut a section out of the milk carton as shown below:
Attach the 'head' shape cut from the milk carton on to the cardboard with strips of newspaper and PVA glue:
Build up the paper strips to give shape to the head and add small polystyrene balls to give detail for the eyes and nose as required:
Ensure that the whole surface is covered and leave to dry.
Once dry the paper will be stiff and hard, this is then coated with a layer of gesso as an undercoat.
The final stage is to paint the animal head and add details:
The artworks produced in this workshop were bright colourful and great fun:
