Milk Container Hand Puppets

Making Hand Puppets from Milk Cartons:

Two designs will be described:





Materials:



1 2 litre milk carton washed
1 small polystyrene ball cut in half
   coloured art paper your choice of colours
   newspaper
   PVA glue
   stick glue
   texta or similar to colour the eyes
   craft knife
   brush for PVA glue

Design 1 the person:

Method:

1. Cut the small plastic tag from the bottom of the bottle with a craft knife. This is necessary in order to get the mouth to close:




2. Cover the bottle with strips of newspaper. It is important to use PVA glue for this as this form of plastic is difficult to adhere to:





3. Once dry cut the mouth with a sharp craft knife:



   Fold the mouth over


4. Decorate with strips of coloured paper of your choosing. This can be applied with stick glue:







   Add some hair in a contrasting colour with some fringed paper.



5. Add further details, eyes with half polystyrene balls, nose with triangle of paper and lips with some red paper and any other features you wish to add:



Design 2 the animal:

Stages 1-3 are the same as design 1

4. Cut the top off of the bottle as shown below to make ears:



5. Decorate as before with coloured paper etc:





   Use your imagination to create your own puppet!





Taking it a stage further:

With the addition of a 2 litre soft drink bottle  and some coiled aluminium wire!
