The Enchanted Rain Forest Parade

The Enchanted Rain Forest Parade:


On Friday 18th September we celebrated the end of our residency with a musical parade and performance of body percussion music. The parade travelled along Vincent Street to the Shire Offices and back to the Beverley Station Arts Platform Theatre.

It was a beautiful day and following the parade the students and their families had a picnic lunch followed by a performance by the school choir.

Term Three After School Workshop

A small group of year 5-7 students with a particular artistic aptitude were offered after school art sessions:

The project was to design and build a 3D relief artwork using recycled plastic bottles, cartons and other materials along with plaster bandage, plaster paint etc:

The school students produced some remarkable artworks.
These were produced on boards: hardboard/MDF/plywood etc.

Week 1:
The initial 'skeleton' of the pieces was made from recycled plastic bottles and cartons plus cardboard and newspaper:





Week 2:
The pieces were further developed and moulded with plaster bandage. This was then left to dry for a week





The artworks were developing well and were all different. The skill level was most impressive!

Week 3:
A thin layer of Polyfilla was added and again left to dry.

Week 4:
The artworks were lightly sanded and then undercoated.

Week 5:
Painting of the artwork commencedThe artworks started to come to life and develop personalities!







Weeks 6-8:
Artworks were completed and varnished. The work produced was of an extremely high standard and diverse.
